Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform daily assessments of residents to determine programs according to individual plan of care
  • Promote activities in a way that piques residents'
  • Coordinate family functions and events
  • Plan weekly out trips based on resident preference and interests
  • Ensures a monthly program calendars is designed and implemented based on residents abilities, interests hobbies, religions and work/volunteer experience
  • Identify and place requisitions from supervisor for needed supplies for planned activities
  • Provide daily assistance during all meals
  • Provide monitoring and direction to residents in the neighborhood
  • Assist with calendar preparation and execution of events and programs
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor (Memory Care Director/Executive Director)


  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university or satisfactory completion of two years of college, with major work in in social work, nursing, psychology, gerontology or therapeutic recreation or related field preferred, or two years of full-time experience in the recreation field with an adult population may be considered.
  • Must possess a passion for working with seniors and improving their quality of life.
  • Has a basic understanding of Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases is essential.
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Basic typing skills and computer knowledge; familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Publisher and creative software.

Maplewood Senior Living conducts pre-employment screening including background check, drug screening and reference checks.

All candidates will be required to show valid proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 before commencing work or commit to obtaining full vaccination within 30 days of commencing work, unless they receive an approved exemption from Maplewood.  Maplewood will require unvaccinated candidates to obtain their first dose prior to commencing work and then obtaining a second dose with in thirty days after the first dose.  Those who do not obtain full vaccination within that time frame, without an approved exemption, will be terminated.
