Job Description:

The Human Resource Director is responsible for overseeing a variety of department functions, as well as performing and delegating activities. These functions include but are not limited to benefits administration, employee relations and engagement, performance management, policy, and compliance. The incumbent will work closely with the VP of HR, as well as the Director of Training & Development and Director of Talent Acquisition. This position also has supervisory responsibilities for HR Generalists and Coordinators.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains HR Generalists and Coordinators within the department
  • Delegates and oversees workflow of staff
  • Provides immediate, frequent feedback to staff on areas for improvement
  • Creates succession and/or growth plan for top performers

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES:

Business Partnership: 40%

  • Build rapport with HR team and Executive Leadership, as well as with approximately 100 managers and 700 employees.
  • Partner with third party resources including but not limited to HRIS/ADP relationship and project managers, insurance brokers and carriers, legal counsel, contracted professional networks or vendors, auditors and other third-party relationship managers.
  • Provide guidance to management in all aspects of an employee’s lifecycle, ensuring procedures are in line with Stratus policies and State/Local/Federal law (rewards/recognition, development, performance management, promotion/transfer, separation)
  • Oversee administration of annual performance reviews and merit increases, report on completion and timeliness as well as recommend process improvements as necessary
  • Review and update salary ranges for 140+ positions within the organization, ensuring Stratus is competitive with market wages.
  • Council managers on the benefits employee may be entitled to, such as workers compensation, disability, FMLA, etc. and work with the employee to administer benefits.
  • Investigate employee complaints and/or concerns in accordance with Stratus policy and State/Local/Federal law. Record and recommend corrective actions and/or resolution to management.

 

Employee Benefits: 30%

  • Research, recommend and oversee implementation of employee benefit programs such as health, disability, life, PTO, retirement/401(k), bonus/incentives, etc.
  • Participate in benefit plan designs and renewal strategies with VP of HR to ensure plan effectiveness
  • Oversee coordination of benefit events, specifically wellness screenings and open enrollment, to ensure all activities are well communicated and on time
  • Process weekly 401(k) funding and update funding spreadsheet for audit.
  • Assist with Annual 401(k) audit and 5500 filings for 401(k) and health benefits.

 

Employee Engagement: 20%

  • Facilitate Employee Engagement Committee meetings, as well as delegate and oversee activities
  • Attend regular Charity Committee meetings and perform assigned activities
  • Meet bi-weekly with HR Representatives and monthly with internal Diversity, Equity and Inclusion champion. Bring ideas, challenges, and suggestions to VP of HR.
  • Report on trends from employee stay and exit surveys and make recommendations for improvement to executive leadership
  • Research, recommend and implement employee recognition programs in line with Stratus mission, vision, and values
  • Oversee company events, including partnership with marketing to ensure events represent Stratus brand appropriately

 

Policy & Compliance: 10%

  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in organizational efficiency in compliance with Federal and State regulations including DOL/EEOC/FLSA/HIPPA, etc.
  • Oversee filing of annual EE01 Report
  • Oversee Worker’s Compensation claim filing as well as OSHA logs compliance
  • Complete job evaluation process for new roles added to the organization and ensure compliance with FLSA and DOL requirements.

 

OTHER:

Recruitment/On-boarding:

  • Partner with Director of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment team as needed with coordination and tracking of new hire paperwork, pre-employment tests, I-9s/e-verify, equipment, etc.
  • Oversee New Hire Benefits presentations and successful employee onboarding

 Training & Development:

  • Partner with Director of Training and Development to educate managers and/or employees on policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations.

Education:

  • PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP certification required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a relevant Major & Minor (Business, Psychology) 

Experience:

  • Five years+ advanced HR metrics and analytics
  • Five years+ Merger & Acquisition experience
  • Ten years+ HR supervisory experience
  • Ten years+ HRIS management experience
  • Ten years+ HR business partner experience
  • Ten years+ of communicating with employees and managers at all levels of an organization
  • Ten years+ of successfully resolving difficult situations regarding personnel and organizational conflict.
  • Ten years+ MS Office, specifically using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, including the use of pivot tables, formulas, and data analytics
