Under direct supervision of the Director, Medically Based
Fitness, the Membership Manager is responsible for obtaining center
memberships, meeting sales objectives and positive revenue results.
Additionally, the Manager is responsible to assist in the
development, coordination and implementation of the annual
marketing plan and membership promotional campaigns.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages the work activities of the membership department to
include the Professional Outreach Representative -- Membership.
Interviews, hires, and trains staff. Evaluates performance and
provides feedback. Makes personnel action recommendations regarding
promotions, transfers, disciplinary, or discharge
Develops and assures that personal and departmental weekly,
monthly and annual sales goals are attained.
Prepares and submits weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales
projections and reports in a timely fashion as scheduled.
Coordinates efficient processes for responding to all membership
inquiries (e.g. phone and email inquiries, walk-in and off-site
events) and implements a computerized lead tracking system for all
inquiry, prospect and follow-up activities
Sells club memberships personally.
Works with Lake Health's Marketing Department to design and
implement an annual sales and marketing campaign and maintains
sales literature and promotional item inventory.
Initiates personal and department involvement in local civic and
service organizations in cooperation with other Lake Health
departments and leadership.
Coordinates the flow of information from the medical fitness
center department heads to the Marketing Department for center
newsletters and program guides.
Communicates membership sales initiatives to various department
leaders as identified.
Participates in the "Manager on Duty" rotation to cover
questions and issues that may arise during off hours.
Attends assigned departmental and health system meetings and
specific project initiatives as assigned.
Follows Lake Health and department policies and procedures with
special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality,
dress code, and safety.
Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain
organization and department specific competencies and requirements.
Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business, public
relations or other related field preferred. One to three years
sales or sales management experience preferably in a health club
setting preferred. Illustrated performance track record. Previous
health club operations experience helpful. Ability to work variable
hours as necessary.
