Summary

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for directing the financial operations of Signature Health Inc. and its affiliate organizations. In addition, will partner with senior leadership and the board of directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The CFO must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace while managing the finance staff.

Responsibilities

Finance

Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.

Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.

Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.

Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.

Oversee the billing/collections function for a community mental health and federally qualified health center.

Manage the company insurance program.

Planning, Policy, and Industry Relations

Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets.

Develop financial business plans and forecasts.

Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.

Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, public officials, etc.

Remain up to date on audit best practices and state and federal law regarding operations.

Accounting and Administration

Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions; supervise Signature Health’s finance staff.

Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.

Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for federal and state funders, and Signature Health’s board of directors; oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.

Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.

Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.

Other duties as assigned by CEO

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required (Master’s Degree/ MBA preferred)

CPA Preferred

At least five years’ experience as a CFO or equivalent, preferably in an organization with a budget of at least $50 million.

Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.

Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.

Deep knowledge and understanding of the Office of Management and Budget Circular A133 audit.

Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and accounting software packages.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.

General knowledge of Mental Illness, Chemical Dependency and Behavioral Healthcare.

Professionalism. Demonstration of ethics, and continuous improvement.

Communication Skills. Ability to encourage various forms of dialogue to understand the audience and communicate message clearly for a dependable flow of information.

Critical Thinking Skills. Ability to understand problems and develop alternative perspectives and solutions for quality improvements, plus care delivery, in the best interest of the agency.

Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities

Ability to evaluate a problematic situation and being able to resolve it based on planning and reasoning, by using logic judgement and data.

Ability to apply new and creative solutions to old problems and constantly seeking to improve upon processes, systems or services.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Requires extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.

Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.

Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk and listen both in person and while using the phone for extended periods.

Dexterity sufficient to operate a PC and other office equipment.
