DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Cook 1 at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home, you
will play a vital role in ensuring that the residents receive
delicious and nutritious meals. Your responsibilities will include
operating cooking equipment, maintaining cleanliness and
sanitation, and preparing food according to specific recipes and
dietary needs. You will also have the opportunity to train new
cooks, prepare food for special meals and events, and attend
training to refine your food preparation skills. Your contributions
will be essential in providing a high-quality dining experience for
the residents of the home.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40
hours per weekWork hours are as follows, Wednesday - Sunday, with a
30-minute lunch: Week 1: 5:15 AM to 1:15 PMWeek 2: 10:00 AM to 6:30
PMTelework: You will not have the option to telework in this
position. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Desirable Preparation for Work:
Additional Requirement:You must be able to perform essential job
functions.
Preferred Qualification (not required):Experience in cooking or
food preparation; or Any equivalent combination of experience
and/or training.
Legal Requirements:A conditional offer of employment will require a
medical examination.This position falls under the provisions of the
Older Adult Protective Services Act.Under the Act, a conditional
offer of employment will require submission and approval of
satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited
to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
