Assistant! - CMA II license is required upon hiring. - Starting pay
is $22/hour based on experience. - PRN/On Call - create your own
schedule and select shifts that suit you! - 12-hour shifts
available. Job Summary The Medication Assistant (MA) acts as a
caregiver, delivering resident-centered nursing care and daily
living support to assigned individuals under the guidance of a
charge nurse. This role involves understanding and providing
age-appropriate care that addresses both the physical and
psychological needs of residents according to their care plans.
Responsibilities include assisting with essential health care tasks
such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, recording vital
signs, and offering psychosocial support and personal care. The MA
may also help residents with transfers, repositioning, and
ambulation using appropriate techniques and equipment, as well as
providing range of motion and passive exercises. Tasks related to
food preparation and dining are also part of the role, ensuring a
positive dining experience for residents. Assistance with meals and
snacks, along with providing water and supplements as needed, is
expected. The CMAII administers prescribed medications as directed
by a licensed nurse and within the scope of practice defined by
state regulations. Documentation of resident care outcomes,
medication administration, behaviors, activities, and dietary needs
is essential. The CMAII communicates any changes in condition,
medication follow-ups, and care-related concerns to the charge
nurse. Responsibilities also include collecting non-invasive body
fluid specimens and vital signs, as well as providing housekeeping
and laundry services to maintain clean living environments. The
CMAII may assist with wellness and recreational programs,
encouraging resident participation, and may engage in departmental
or organizational committees and task forces as needed.
Qualifications - A high school diploma or general equivalency
diploma (GED) is preferred but not mandatory. - Minimum age of 18
is preferred. Previous clinical or nursing assistant experience in
long-term care is advantageous. - Completion of annual
department-specific competency testing and maintenance of
continuing education credits is required, with a minimum of 12
hours of continuing education annually based on state mandates. All
required certifications must be kept current. A valid driver's
license and auto insurance may be necessary when applicable. -
Iowa: Requires Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from
the State Board of Nursing, which must be maintained. Successful
completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant
course is required after obtaining CNA certification. - Minnesota:
Must possess nursing assistant certification, have completed the
75-hour course, and be registered with the Minnesota Nursing
Assistant Registry. Successful completion of a state-approved
Trained Medication Assistant course is necessary. - North Dakota:
Requires Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the
State Board of Nursing, which must be maintained. Successful
completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant
course is required after obtaining CNA certification. For Assisted
Living or Basic Care facilities, Medication Assistant I
certification is needed; for skilled nursing facilities, Medication
Assistant II certification is required. - South Dakota: Successful
completion of the state-approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
course is necessary, and CMA certification must be maintained with
the State Board of Nursing. For all locations, it is essential to
have the state-required certified/trained medication aide
certification (CMA or TMA), with the assumption that one must have
their certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification prior to
