At Covenant Community Care, we are a faith based non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center serving the communities of Detroit in our clinics that offer integrated medical, dental and counseling healthcare services. We are seeking new team members to join our dental clinics. Specific to Dental Hygienist only- we are offering a sign-on bonus of $1000, payable after 90-days of employment and successful completion of applicable sign-on bonus details.Job DescriptionOur dental hygienist is responsible for providing preventative dental care to patients. They work closely with dentists to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Reporting to the Dental Manager, and under the supervision of dentists, the hygienist is responsible for a wide range of tasks in the dental clinic, ranging from patient care to administrative duties to laboratory functions. The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following skills:Flexible: Ability to adapt to changing situations and schedules.Dependable: Consistently reliable and punctual.Teamwork: Ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive team environment.Customer Service: Excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients.Organization: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Responsibilities:Clean teeth and examine patients for signs of oral diseases.Apply fluorides, sealants or other cavity preventing agents to arrest/prevent dental decay.Examine gums, using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.Feel and visually examine gums for sores and signs of disease.Feel lymph nodes under patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer.Take and develop dental x-rays.Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.Maintain dental equipment and sharpen and sterilize dental instruments.Assist dentists with procedures as needed.Maintain patient records and ensure that they are up-to-date.Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.Required Qualifications:State licensure as a dental hygienist.2+ years of experience in a dental environmentValid State of Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportationPreferred Qualifications:Current CPR certification.Spanish/English bilingual is a plus; but not requiredPosition Criteria:Predictable, consistent, and reliable attendanceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced team environment and float between sites when neededWillingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and proceduresJob Type: Full-timeAt Covenant we offer our employees:Comprehensive Benefit programVacation, Sick, and Personal time (VSP)Paid holidays401KContinuing Education allowance and time offLife insurance, long term and short term disabilityLoan repayment for up to $50,000 through the National Health Service Corps (NHSC)Loan repayment as a Federally Qualified Health CenterAll candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check, TB test, and education and licensure credentialing as part of the hiring process.
