Corporate Product Compliance Manager

Job Description:

As a part of the Avery Dennison corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team, the Product Compliance Manager will help to lead the implementation of the company product compliance program and key closely related EHS and sustainability initiatives globally, This highly visible role will be responsible for providing program and technical support and working closely with business unit leaders and team members at all levels of the organization to ensure that Avery Dennison products are safe, compliant with government and customer requirements, and sustainable. This person will help to align business strategies for new government, sustainability, andmarket needs, mitigate risks from operational changes, and manage the selection and use of chemicals in a safe and sustainable way in company products and operations.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The key responsibilities of this role include the following:

* Focal point for the PIMS product integrity management system (Enablon platform), including upgrades to meet business needs, implementing new business units, access control, reporting, system maintenance, and supporting business unit users.


* Support the product compliance marketing initiatives, especially world class customer compliance service and improvements, maintenance, and quality control of the customer self service Compliance Portal and the related website


* Develop and communicate program and technical guidance, SOPs, and tools to the business unit product compliance teams


* Support the chemical management program, including supporting the business unit users on the Aspire EHS Chemical Management System, updates to the company restricted substance list (RSL), and developing tools and resources to support the company Green Chemistry program.


* Lead and support business unit implementation of REACH strategies, registration, SVHCs, and substitution efforts globally and conduct REACH assessments of both business unit program and site level readiness


* Lead and support business unit needs with US TSCA compliance, including CDR, PMNs, health effects reporting, and testing submittals and conduct site level TSCA assessments


* Lead the annual conflict minerals due diligence and reporting process


* Develop product compliance assurance tools and checklists, schedule audits of business units and sites, and lead audits and/or train auditors


* Focal point for the Deltabase management of Change (MOC) system, including upgrades to meet business needs, implementing new business units and regions, access control, reporting, system maintenance, and supporting business unit users.


* Provide technical support as needed and assist in the training and professional development of business unit product compliance leaders and team members.


* Support the incorporation of product sustainability into the program through close collaboration with other organizations such as sustainability, R&D, marketing, and procurement.


* Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent work experience



QUALIFICATIONS:

* At least 5 years business experience in compliance management, preferably in product compliance, product stewardship, or EHS


* Demonstrated data management ability, able to obtain, organize, and understand complex and large amounts of data using leading data management systems and tools.


* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete projects and assignments, exercising frequent independent judgment, initiative, and tact. Excellent time-management, organizational and project management skills are a must.


* Experience in handling and maintaining highly confidential and sensitive matters and information.


* Proficiency of applicable computer systems and demonstrated ability to effectively learn and use function specific software

* Project management and problem solving skills to get the job done on time and within established parameters


* Ability to listen to and understand needs of multiple stakeholders and incorporate feedback into programs and initiatives


* Ability to understand complex issues and accurately provide effective support and guidance with attention to detail
