Job Description:

The Manager of Molding Engineering will be responsible for management of all aspects of the Injection Molding & Tooling, personnel, production, and equipment. This position will closely monitor the Key Performance Indicator for the department and will support new product introductions.The Molding Engineering Manager will be responsible for all training requirements and employee development for the Injection Molding & Tooling Department. Will be required to work closely with purchasing/planning management to ensure raw material levels are maintained and correctly estimated.This position requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of injection molding machines, FDA manufacturing regulatory requirements and departmental safety practices.Duties:

  • Works with the Director, Operations to develop detailed departmental operating budgets and capacity planning tools
  • Monitors all production reports to ensure the organization is effectively delivering the department's financial, safety, quality and on-time delivery commitments
  • Strategically aligns the key management resources to support the molding/tooling production teams and assigned support departments
  • Promotes and leads the molding & tooling department's succession planning efforts by providing developmental opportunities that will support the team's professional growth
  • Ability to implement and support standard, 2-shot molding processes and supporting ancillary equipment
  • Knowledge of robotic picking equipment and precision in-press measurement equipment
  • Multi-resin process validation knowledge utilizing industry advanced leading processing techniques (scientific molding processes)
  • Coordinates and supports the organization's operational improvement plan by providing the focus and resources necessary to deliver our Strategic Deployment Plan (True North)
  • Provides strategic alignment for the key departmental resources to support the organizations new-product introductions and product line extensions
  • Supports the organizational Lean improvement efforts by creating a work environment that strives to eliminate waste, improve customer satisfaction, and increases market share via the use of our organizations Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Organizes, supports and promotes effective communications across the entire organization by creating a shared-vision for success
  • Coordinates and leads with the Tooling department to address part quality concerns and to optimize production performance
  • Works closely with peers to create meaningful Standard Performance Indicators (KPIs) that will deliver our yearly operational plan and process improvement initiatives
  • Oversees and promotes our employee wellness programs to ensure a safe working environment that complies with all Federal and State regulatory requirements
  • Manages in a professional manner by effectively directing/coordinating departmental activities that are consistent with our organizations established operational policies
  • Provide the leadership and guidance related to promotions, hiring, corrective actions and decisions related to the departments overall performance
  • Participates in the development of the organizations policies, standard procedures and long-range strategic planRequired Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in EngineeringRequired Experience:
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required (Injection molding and/or medical device experience a plus)
      • Strong supervisory and departmental management skills required (minimum 2 years' experience required)
      • Comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of injection molding processes, manufacturing equipment, automation robotics and auxiliary equipmentPreferred Experience:
        • Processing certification (highly desired)
        • Lean Manufacturing/Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.
