– Auburn Hills, MI | Michigan P.E. Required Location: Auburn Hills,
MI | Hybrid (2–3 days in office, remaining remote) Salary: $120K –
$150K Bonus (up to 15%) Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Department Manager to
lead our Auburn Hills team. In this senior leadership role, you
will oversee geotechnical engineering projects across industrial,
commercial, and residential sectors , manage budgets and staff, and
drive project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a
Michigan P.E.-licensed professional with strong leadership,
technical, and business development skills. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the geotechnical engineering department , including
team performance, mentoring, and professional growth. Oversee
project delivery , including proposals, scheduling, resource
planning, and client communications. Develop and monitor
departmental budgets , track profitability, and ensure financial
performance. Collaborate with Business Development to drive new
project opportunities and maintain client relationships. Ensure
compliance with Michigan geotechnical codes, regulations, and QA/QC
standards . Coordinate with architects, civil, and structural
engineers to optimize project outcomes. Foster a positive,
collaborative work culture and promote staff development.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or
equivalent) Michigan P.E. license required 10 years of
geotechnical/civil engineering experience , with progressive
responsibility Proven leadership in managing teams, budgets, and
multi-disciplinary projects Strong knowledge of soil mechanics,
foundation design, slope stability , and site development
Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio,
Rocscience) and Microsoft Office Preferred Skills: Experience in
business development, proposal writing, and client networking
Financial management skills: budgeting, profitability analysis, and
collections Mentoring and professional development of junior staff
