Job Description Job Description Description: Overview: The Plant
Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation,
and continuous improvement of plant systems and equipment,
including BAC, overhead cranes, compressors, boilers, plant
heaters, tow motors, waste water and facility infrastructure. This
role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through
preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, parts management, vendor
collaboration, and facility contract management. The ideal
candidate supports production needs and manages facility-related
services such as snow removal and crane inspections. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities: Manage the maintenance,
troubleshooting, and repair of facilities equipment and systems,
including BAC ovens, overhead cranes, compressors, boilers, plant
heaters, and tow motors. Oversee the safe operation, inspection,
and certification of overhead cranes and lifting devices, ensuring
full compliance with safety standards and regulations. Monitor,
analyze, and optimize plant utilities—such as boilers, compressors,
heaters, and other systems—to improve energy efficiency and reduce
operating costs. Manage and control utility consumption, including
gas, electricity, and water usage, ensuring sustainable and
cost-effective plant operations. Order parts, supplies, and
replacements required for maintenance and continuous operations of
facilities equipment. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers:
request quotes, evaluate bids, and select suitable vendors for
repairs, upgrades, and facility-related services. Manage all
facility-related contracts, including snow removal, crane
inspections, janitorial services, HVAC maintenance, and other
outsourced support services. Conduct root cause analysis on
facility equipment failures and develop corrective and preventive
actions to minimize downtime. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and
other regulatory standards pertinent to plant safety, environmental
regulations, and utility management. Oversee scheduling,
coordination, and supervision of vendor work, inspections, and
scheduled maintenance activities. Maintain comprehensive and
accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, parts
inventory, service contracts, and utility consumption. Support and
lead process improvement initiatives to enhance safety, operational
efficiency, and quality of facility operations. Manage
facility-related budgets, including expenditures on maintenance,
repairs, upgrades, and utility costs. Assist in developing and
executing capital projects and facility upgrades to support plant
growth and modernization. Establish standards, policies, and
procedures for the installation, modification, quality control,
testing, operation, inspection, and routine maintenance of
facilities equipment. Direct the maintenance and upkeep of plant
buildings and coordinate design requirements, surveys, and
maintenance schedules for structures and facilities. Prepare bid
sheets, specifications, and contracts for construction,
renovations, and facility acquisitions. Test and validate newly
installed machinery and facilities equipment to verify compliance
with contract requirements and operational standards. Review
existing processes related to facilities operations within the
plant, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and
quality enhancements. Develop and monitor the performance and
functions of facilities equipment and utility systems, ensuring
reliable operation aligned with plant needs. Supervisory
Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience: · Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical,
Industrial, or Electrical Engineering · Heavy manufacturing
industry with a minimum of 5 years of experience, Key Competencies
Communication Skills: · Ability to read, analyze, and interpret
general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations. · Ability to write
reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. · Ability
to effectively present information and respond to questions from
groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. ·
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw
valid conclusions. Mathematical Skills: · Ability to work with
mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical
inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and
trigonometry. · Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. ·
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and
concrete variables. Computer Skills: · Knowledge of Design
software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and
Word Processing software. Preferred Skills and Experience: · Must
have a proven track record of successful project management. · Must
have the capability of drawing utilizing a CAD program. Preferably
AutoCAD. · Forging industry experience preferred. Physical Demands:
· Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts. ·
Use carts, dollies, cranes and jacks to transport material if
needed. · Must be able to regularly lift and or move up to 40 lbs.
· Tolerate potentially extreme temperature fluctuations impacted by
weather and machinery. · Acclimate to high noise and vibration
levels in workspaces. · Wear and adhere to all PPE guidelines
including hard hats, protective eye wear, ear plugs, and approved
footwear with metatarsal and steel toe safeguards. · Comfortable
working in confined work environments. Work Environment: The Plant
Engineer may interact around historic machinery throughout the
facility which often involves proximity to heat, noise, debris,
conveyance systems and other potentially dangerous equipment. The
Plant Engineer may encounter high levels of floor and overhead
traffic due to material transportation within the department which
can cause high levels of vibration and airborne disturbances.
