This position will mainly focus on Henkel's North American Consumer sealant and adhesive packaging. However, this position will also support other adhesive packaging divisions such as Electronics, Aerospace, Transportation, General Industry, and Industrial. The individual in this position will work with the Packaging Engineering department to design and develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for Henkel's products. The focus will be on maintaining cost efficiency, product/packaging quality, and a safe work environment.

YOUR ROLE

• Support the Packaging Engineering Department by identifying and evaluating new packaging materials to maximize cost performance
• Work with vendors on new packaging designs and requirements driven by costs/expenses or customer driven projects
• Work with cross functional teams (i.e. Supply Chain, Marketing, Production, Distribution, etc.) at Henkel to drive projects to completion
• Develop root cause analysis on quality issues with existing packaging and help coordinate corrective actions with vendors
• Benchmark packaging components and packaging processes to identify cost savings and efficiency improvements
• Create and revise packaging specifications, bill of materials and pallet patterns to support manufacturing
• Understand and support in-house product manufacturing processes
• Understand and support basic supplier manufacturing processes (i.e. plastic molding, corrugated board fabrication, etc.)
• Investigate and report on new packaging materials and technologies that could drive the business
• Develop test methods and evaluate all packaging components to ensure compatibility, efficacy, and quality with packaging systems
• Participate and assist with package testing and line/filling trials
• Focus on sustainable initiatives for the production environment
  
  YOUR SKILLS
  
  
  • Packaging Engineering Student: 2 nd , 3 rd , or 4 th year
  • Good basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point) are essential. AutoCAD skills are a definite plus
  • Technical and theoretical knowledge of packaging materials, formats, and processes
  • Attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team and/or independently
  • Ability to present conclusions and recommendations to management team
  • A curiosity-driven enthusiasm for learning on the job and a willingness to help the entire Packaging Engineering Team with various projects and tasks
