Job Description:
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the research, plan, and design of
electronic control systems and electromechanical products and
equipment. Direct and coordinate activities involved in
fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of
control systems and electromechanical products and equipment by
applying theories and principles of science and mathematics. Apply
electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify
developmental or operational production electrical test and
electrical control equipment and circuitry by performing complex
testing and analysis. Duties include sales driven custom design
requests and modifications to existing product offerings. This is a
salary-exempt position. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to the Electrical Production Engineering Manager
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to
establish and continuously improve processes and products
- Ability to create and/or troubleshoot PLC & HMI programs (AB,
D-More, C-More)
- Plan, direct and help establish electrical production
testing
- Review engineering drawings and documents
- Recommend modifications or replacement of equipment that fails
to meet acceptable standards
- Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and
graphs of electric equipment and controllers
- Fabricate simple to complex prototypes; set up laboratory tests
requiring some ingenuity
- Gather, interpret data and report analysis to management
- Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies and
materials
- Troubleshoot digital and analog electronic circuits
- Participate in design reviews and other team development
processes
- Research and develop solutions to electrical / technical
problems by applying theories and principles of science and
mathematics
- Develop test strategies and procedures for test validation
- Operate computer assisted engineering and design software and
equipment to perform engineering tasks
- Investigate and test vendor's and competitor's products
- Communicate with all levels of the company
- Attend and participate in company required meetings and
training, seminars or educational activities to stay up-to-date on
the latest developments, trends, regulations in the market
place
- Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations
- Adhere to ISO processes
- Maintain neat, clean and safe work area
- Other essential duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS /
COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Electronic Technology Degree
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips and electronic
equipment
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved
in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings and
models
- Working knowledge of AutoCad and Solidworks Electrical
(plus)
- Logic and reasoning skills to identify the strengths and
weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to
problems
- Assess project needs, oversees or conducts engineering design
or system performance review
- Identify problems or opportunities through the collection and
analysis of data
- Apply problem solving approaches, such as brainstorming,
fishbone diagramming and engineering theory to electric system
projects
- Use logical thought processes to analyze information and draw
conclusions
- Review, evaluate and implement new technologies that support
best practices
- Test hypotheses to ensure the problem is correctly diagnosed
and the best solution is found
- Strong computer and math skills
- Ability to work independently as well as a team member
- Ability to utilize strong verbal and written communication
skills to communicate effectively with team members
- Result-driven and detail oriented
