Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste management in the Northeast U.S., is looking for a seasoned Director of Maintenance to oversee landfill operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that all maintenance activities are executed efficiently, in compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all maintenance and equipment management processes at our landfill sites. Oversee daily operations of landfill maintenance departments, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods across multiple landfill sites. Conduct and oversee regular inspections and maintenance of machinery and equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Manage the maintenance budgets and forecasts, including the procurement of tools, materials, and supplies needed for operations. Collaborate with environmental compliance staff to ensure that landfill operations adhere to environmental standards and practices. Lead, train, and develop maintenance team members, fostering a culture of safety and excellence. Report on maintenance and operation activities, challenges, and progress to senior management. Implement new technologies and practices for improved waste management and sustainability. Proven expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in the context of waste management Strong leadership and decision-making skills Excellent project management abilities Competency in using computer software for inventory, budget management, and project planning Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards in waste management Medical Insurance 401k Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) preferred OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification Any other relevant industry-specific certifications
